i wanted to see you on this
the shortest day
and the longest night
of this year, but i had
to wrap gifts with perfect bows.
The tilt of the earth
rotates towards us
you can avoid me
or work late
or ignore me
or bleed in silence
but i know
that the winter solstice
lasts only a moment in time
like we did
in the past
when the present roared.
Our two hemispheres face
opposite directions
our eyes glued to the mirror
next to the bed
with my hair in your face
my mouth
bitten.
Let us celebrate a rebirth
a ritual
of our pleasurable sore body
parts. Flip me around,
on top, to the side
i’m gathering the moments
in celebration
of days and nights
without you.
