If there’s one poem that people connected with, it’s the poem “1973”, which I included in my chapbook “Your Ink On My Soul”.
I was at my book signing in Montreal, and a young girl picked up my poetry book and asked me, “Which is your favourite poem?”
I replied, “I can never choose. It’s like having children, but most people connect to 1973.”
She asked me if she could read it. “Sure”, I replied.
I watched her reading my poem and then I looked away because I saw her crying. She looked up at me when she finished and said, “Wow, I need a cigarette.”

So I suppose, poetry can be like sex, I thought to myself.
