At Starbucks

It is a two week study period

of Starbucks

corner of the highway

and Town of Mont Royal

every day read a bit

write a bit

listen to conversations

accents

movements

study strangers

i have no intention of meeting.

I know you write well

look good at international cafés

fly around the world

but the lemon bread

at Starbucks

heals all the wounds

kills the humidity on this Thursday afternoon

waiting for time to pass.

It even has rasberry swirls

little things I notice

that most don’t.

It means something to me

when meetings go as planned

and I sign my life’s work away

to start fresh

ready to jump out of the plane.

I knew this would happen to us

slowly disintegrate into reality.

Have a nice day, bonne journée

and old time jazz.

Still

je pense à toi.

I cannot help this dam

it has a life of its own

does not need explaining

just unraveling.
