Proximity

Christina Strigas

It’s going to get dark today
before nightfall.
I will apologize now
for you will hate me
later. Know that I love you,
but that darkness
is stepping on the light
again.
Darkness claims that
in silence I feel her
proximity
more than the light does.
Darkness, she’s defiant
she is close now.
The light accepts her, she
is squinting. No longer able
to fight.
She is riding on her
sex drive, forgetting
how how you made her real.
