Chasing Wanderlust

January 13, 2016

The most important part of poetry

is how it makes you travel through time,

place. I have my spacesuit on ready

to touch stars. meet me at the ocean.

you’re so ridiculous, did you see i did the dishes for  you

love me now

fill up my glass

oh, how i love you now

the way you come through the door

and kiss space with two grand steps.

telling me how my beauty is so deep

even you have to dig

that’s why you love me

because every day i give you the shovel.

living and knowing you has been the best part

of my life

how could i have done anything without you?

this is my poetry

how quotes mean nothing

until i whisper them in your ear.

remember when we went to Puerto Plata

and i wore those fuck me boots

and short shorts? remember the party

in the basement with strangers

everyone grabbed our asses

we laughed and touched each other

in the back seat of the cab?

we keep on chasing wanderlust

in the front seat of sanity

with our seat belts off.

speaking foreign languages spreading love

through sand castles,

it’s the 70’s

and my foot went right into the Tupperware

when the car crashed and our necks snapped.

you know the grammar rules

now try to apply them

to your life.

  1. Hmmmm. What are “fuck me boots?”

    1. Chrissy says:

      you don’t know? seriously?

      1. Wah. No. I’m a little naive. My youngest daughter got a tattoo on her lower back and one of the medics I worked with said “oh, that’s a fuck me tattoo.” I said “oh, no. Hers is a moon and stars.” Needless to say, I was laughed out of the station.
I didn’t get around when I was young….or old for that matter. 🙁

    2. Chrissy says:

tall high heeled boots often worn by strippers
      over the knee
      just below the thigh
      lol

      1. Oh! I just thought those were “tall boots.” I’m learning a lot on here….I’m really regretting not experiencing those “slutty college years.” LOL

        1. Chrissy says:

          you’re too funny!

          1. I’m just a Southern ding-bat who had never been around the proverbial block. When I was running EMS, a few of the guys asked me if my carpet matched my drapes and I said “actually, it does.” It really did…but they weren’t talking about carpet and drapes, of course. Then they started calling me a MILF. I thought it was because I drank so much milk. It really was an education…working with those guys…but I’m still pretty naive. LOL

          2. Chrissy says:

no worries, my son’s once commented milf and cookies on a picture he posted and i didn’t get it kept on thinking milk no?

          3. LOL. I wouldn’t have gotten it either.

          4. Chrissy says:

            i mean my son’s friend!

          5. Chrissy says:

          1. Erika Kind says:
