Epic Poem

Christina Strigas

I will write an epic poem one day.
I say.
One fine day. When the ache
in the chest overtakes
the sunshine and only a touch
from a lover can heal. You have
a way of sliding under the radar
slithering onto my skin
while I am not paying attention
to the hockey scores. The grip
on my heart is bound by words
that replay in my head, a fever
that stirs my body. It guides
me to leave cherished words at
your doorstep as a gift so that
when you rub your sleepy eyes
from a dream, you will read me first
think about me first, before you splash
your face with water. In the grips of you
I sleep and wake among the lost children,
who have no vision
of desires buried deep,
The man who had unfolded all of me
this poem is for you.

Wow Eric, you are way too kind. I am so glad you liked it though. I thought it was perhaps all over the place, keep on reading it and thinking to change parts for my book, but it stumps me every time. Have a great morning, xx

I like how you shortened it from original version, which seems like two separate poems. This stanza is strong enough to stand alone…and the ending is stunning!
