I wore it for you

May 1, 2012

Come and see me

speak the language of fools

and court jesters.

You cannot miss me

I will be wearing

my bright midnight blue

hand-made scarf

thrown over one shoulder

and barely touching my exposed back.

You say you are too occupied

with road signs

and rubble.

Excavate out of your site

and take a stroll

down my avenue.

I will leave the door ajar

and not be frightened

by your notorious knock.

Aye, I may be blindfolded

hoodwinked

misinformed

or I may be

enlightened

accomplished

proficient

you will be the scholar

and I the pupil

to this ignoramus life.

All I want is proof

that you have loved me

no matter how illogical

inconsequential

or adrift you are.

Plead your case before me

and let me be the judge

to decide if your evidence

is worthy

or if you have any.

I just want you to listen to my words

and compliment my scarf.

I wore it for you.
