So here goes the sixth installment for the NaStyRomo 2012 edition. Check it all out at http://www.thewriteaholicblog.wordpress.com/nastyromo2012.
After we made love we lay awake on my bed staring at my cracked ceiling.
“I might be in danger,” Alexios said.
“What kind of danger?” I bolted upright sitting on my bed. He lifted his head and placed his hand on his head with his elbow up against my pillow. He had a serious look in his eyes.
“Well, remember I told you about the vampire hunter, Athanasios? He’s trying to kill me. You see, the vampire hunters go back to the early days around the Middle Ages when the vampires were first discovered by the First Family.”
“Who are they?” I was so intrigued.
“They are the First Family of the vampire hunters. You must be born into the family and possess the pure blood to track and kill vampires. This is what they do from the moment they are old enough…they are trained to kill vampires. They have been doing this for centuries. Anastasios is the Head of The First Family and he is after moi.” He smiled and his eyes sparkled like a child’s.
“How do you know?”
“He found me in Russia. I was with Jake, a vampire friend who I have known for decades. Jake told me.”
“What are you going to do?” He was taking this rather lightly.
“Stay here with you.” He replied and traced my stomach with the tip of his fingers giving me goosebumps all along my naked body.
“What if he comes here?” I suddenly felt frightened.
“Jake took my blood and flew to Italy to randomly place it in all the major cities, along with his blood. It’ll work. It has before.”
“This is crazy, Alexios. What if it doesn’t work?”
“Don’t fret. I have it all under control.” He sat upright. “Jake told me to not stay here too long, but I don’t care what he says because I want to be with you.”
“Oh, he said to not stay here.” My heart sank. This is not going to work. I don’t know why I thought this could work.
“Elysia, forget about all this. Let’s enjoy the time we have together.” He took me in his arms. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” I said, my heart fluttering at the sound of his voice in my ear.
“I bought a cell phone so Jake could find me, there was no other way. I pay as I go, no tracking me.”
“Finally, you’ve entered the modern world,” I joked, trying to make light of this serious catastrophe.
He pulled me closer to his bare chest and kissed me strongly on my mouth. “Don’t worry, everything is under control,” he repeated kissing my neck.
“If you say so,” I said delirious from his kisses.
“Right now, Athanasios is in Italy on a wild goose chase and I’m with you. I’ve missed you…”
“Wait, how do you know that he won’t come after you? How can you be so sure?” I pulled away from his embrace seriously waiting for an answer.
“It’s simple. Jake is going to kill him first. Jake has killed several vampire hunters.” His reassurance felt better but I had an awful feeling in the pit of my stomach.
He lay down and pulled me toward him. “Let’s relax for a while.” My arms were around his shoulders and his arms were on my back as we fell asleep in a matter of minutes.
I heard a phone ringing in my slumber and opened my eyes. I saw Alexios standing naked next to me listening intently to someone talking on the other end. His expression didn’t give anything away. He closed the phone without saying bye.
“Who was that?” I asked.
“Elysia,” he bent down to put his pants on. He was dressed in one split second. “I’m so sorry. I must go.”
“What is it?” I panicked. I couldn’t lose him so quickly. I had just found him again.
“Jake is dead and apparently I’m next.”
